Hey GLUs, welcome back to The Clique Book Club and the beginning of DIAL L FOR LOSER. Let’s pick up where we left off, shall we?
The girls may be home from Lake Placid, but they’re not out of the woods yet. After sneaking Kristen onto the school trip and then leaving the group for several hours, the Pretty Committee has been EXPELLED from OCD, and not in the fun way. They’re not doing hard time at the mall or lounging in the Block’s jacuzzi. They’re actually grounded, which means no socializing with anyone, not even the Briarwood boys. Life on the inside is a total snoozer…
…until Dylan calls with ah-mazing news!
HADLEY DURK AND ABBY BOYD ARE GOING TO BE ON THE DAILY GRIND!!!
The two hottest teen stars—one of whom inspired Massie to get extensions—are appearing on Dylan’s mother’s talk show to announce their new movie “Dial L for Loser”. It’s a big deal made even bigger by the fact that the actresses have been feuding for ages. And, ehmagawd, Dylan got the Pretty Committee VIP passes for the taping!!! Needless to say, the interview goes completely off the rails and Hadley QUITS THE MOVIE, which is supposed to start filming in one week.
In an act of desperation (and let’s be honest, good PR), director Rupert Mann announces that he wants REAL girls for the part. No more divas!
Cut to: the once-grounded PC is flying private to Hollywood for the auditions! The girls are ecstatic, but quickly crash back down to Earth when they realize only one of them will land the role.
Let’s discuss.
The girls are grounded for being expelled. If you were their parents, would you make an exception for this once-in-a-lifetime chance at stardom, or would you stand firm?
Massie has been playing it ultra cool around the Hollywood folks. If you were her acting coach, what advice would you give to help her land the role?
Which member of the Pretty Committee would you cast? Who is best suited for fame and why?
LFG (Let’s F-ing Gossip)!

1. I hope this decision is not part of my future because it would be so difficult to decide! On one hand, it would be ah-mazing for my daughter to have an opportunity to be in a movie. On the other hand, would she understand the consequences of her actions if I reward her with a trip to LA and a movie role? My parents would never have support it but I would want to do it soooo badly if I was a kid again. 😆
2. I would tell her to not act too cool and that in order to actually play a part, she has to be in it 100% instead of being blasé about it. Good actors are good because they don’t let their ego play a part. Massie should’ve set aside her Queen B status and really go for the audition. And hey, at least we know she can memorize the script! I think she has potential.
3. I DEFINITELY think Massie is best suited for fame. I would have casted her for the role. I can see her either thriving in the Hollywood scene or being humbled very quickly by the expectations and culture. 😅
1) My parents would absolutely stand firm, but I’d like to think I would give my kid a shot at this crazy chance. But like Kendal said, maybe that’s me thinking from my ex-teen brain who would absolutely be begging to go to LA 😅
2) Massie is the queen of faking. One of my favorite Massie-isms is when she stands in front of a mirror and counts down in her head before she goes out to an event or an important social situation. She’s always putting on an act to an extent, so I would tell her to channel the confidence she so often fakes. I think she also needs to realize the character she’s playing is not herself, so she can actually have a shot at getting a role as an LBR!
3) I think Claire was perfect for the role acting-wise, but she wasn’t ready to be a star. Someone like Alicia may be able to better balance being an actress and dealing with all the fame that comes with that.
