When Ellen asked me to curate a playlist for Dylan, you could have heard me scream “EH MA GAWD” all the way in Westchester.

Since playing Dylan in the film when I was 14, I’ve done what every OCD girl has done… grown up! Even though Elizabeth McLaughlin (our esteemed Massie Block) credits me with showing her Bon Iver for the first time while we were on set, I didn’t really embrace my love for music until college. Since then, I’ve actually been working behind the scenes in the music industry discovering new artists and putting on live concerts.

Creating Dylan’s playlist got me thinking about her complicated relationship with herself. Between her witty comebacks and circle-diet attempts, lies a girl fighting to define herself beyond others' expectations.

When I imagine Dylan today, I’m sure she is still struggling with some of the same issues, but I hope she has also learned to embrace her uniqueness.

This playlist captures both sides of her - the outward confidence she projects to the Pretty Committee, and those quiet moments of self-doubt we all experience. There's something powerful about a character who struggles with her image yet refuses to become invisible.

So next time you're feeling like the "odd girl out" or need a boost of Dylan's fiery spirit, hit play and remember that even Pretty Committee members have their insecurities - it's how they rise above them that matters.
