As a future school librarian (currently working on my MLIS), this was such a great listen! Thank you Mary for all the incredible work you have done in the field! Also, I’m all in for a continued book club 🤗
Loved this convo!! As a kid who grew up basically unchecked with what I was reading, I’m passionately against book bans: my case-in-chief is that I learned how to cure a hangover in middle school from reading The It Girl series and that came in so handy when I got to college 🤣
Okay dying because I actually gave my niece my Clique books to read and my sister made her stop reading them because she was trying to act too much like Massie 😭😂
This episode was so on point (including the Scholastic Book Fair frustrations 😅). Honestly, despite being a school librarian myself, I had been avoiding this episode after a rough year & feeling like an LBR compared to other staff. However, these conversations made me feel so seen. Thank you for not just supporting libraries in general, but for giving the people who run them a voice on the podcast. 🩷
Here's the link to the recommended reading list I mentioned! https://txla.org/news/2025-lariat-reading-list-announced/
