Packing tips from someone who’s strangely good at packing: 1. plan all outfits in advance and make sure every piece can be worn for multiple fits to cut down on the amount of stuff you’re bringing. 2. Have a bag always packed with all of your toiletries and travel size makeup that you only use when you’re traveling. If you’re a makeup girlie like me you know that packing and unpacking all of that is a pain, and this way you don’t have to worry that you forgot something if it’s already packed and you’re not using that stuff on the daily. 3. I always travel with Liquid IV, advil, and the individuality packed Patchology eye patches (perfect to put in the hotel fridge) because I won’t let a hangover slow me down. 4. Lighted makeup mirror. Nothing is worse than unreliable lighting for makeup.
This might be my FAVE book out of the series! Lake Placid is so iconic ESP the packing list!! I’m obsessed. Ok now to answer the questions:
1. Not to be a downer, but I think Massie is terrified to kiss Derrington because she isn’t ready to be kissing boys! She’s clearly more interested in fashion and friends than boys but she’s trying to keep up because her friends are more interested in boys.
2. I would be shocked if Kuh-laire was worried about losing Alicia as a friend. She must’ve been more worried about losing her place and possibly her life because Alicia might destroy her if she finds out that Claire kissed Josh! Seriously, what was she thinking?! Oh, I know, she was probably acting like me 😂 I try not to kiss and tell but I might have kissed a friend’s crush but HE KISSED ME not the other way around!! It’s still not an excuse and I do not recommend putting yourself in this situation 😅
3. The mother-daughter relationship between Dylan and Merri-Lee Marvil is so disheartening but probably shows a common experience in the lives of the wealthy. I can see that Dylan is hurt that her mother claims this as “bonding time” yet her mother spends the whole time pining after the hottie teach and only shows affection to Dylan when the cameras are rolling. I would bet that Merri-Lee Marvil may have some narcissistic tendencies… 🤔
4. I’ve learned a super helpful packing tip from the Kardashian queens!! I take photos of the outfits I plan out for each day so I don’t forget the fit during the trip. This way I always look fabulous 😎💁♀️
Most iconic packing list of all-time: how would one ever survive a trip without cuticle trimmers?? Shoutout to Ugg for making their iconic comeback because you know there’s a group of girls out there with a list that says “Uggs (ultra-mini platforms only)” in 2025.
Anyways… Dylan’s mom coming on the trip was a hysterical plot twist and I think Dylan was genuinely embarrassed, the whole point of the trip was to get away from their parents! Also I think Claire knew that losing Alicia would equate to losing her spot in the PC because she had been Massie’s friend for longer than Claire. Also been there with Claire and it’s not a good feeling: I would tell my younger self to dip out, the boy is never worth the drama!
3. I think Dylan is deeply embarrassed by her mother's self-serving antics, because she can see that her mother is not making any effort to truly get to know her daughter. She is simply there for her own opportunities and one of them happens to be a man. Which has dylan, not only sideying her mom, but also eye rolling at the sheer disgust of it, we're a seventh grader, of course
3. It seems that Merri-Lee has ulterior motives behind many of her interactions with Dylan. In the first book she praises Alicia's looks after Dylan's birthday party. Her real reason for joining the Lake Placid trip is, apparently, to get together with Mr. Myner. So maybe Dylan wants authentic mother-daughter time and would rather take no interactions over inauthentic interactions?
4. Keep a bag pocket/section or separate box for all electronics cables. I think it's helpful to . I'd also recommend one cable per chargeable device. Even if moving one cable from device to device is enough to charge all of them with normal use, the hassle of plugging and unplugging, checking battery levels, etc. isn't worth it in my opinion.

Obsessed! Thank you.
Yes! I’m going on a group travel trip and I brought the Patchology eye gels to share with my assigned roommate! I hope she loves them.
That is such a perfect idea! Have an amazing time on your trip!!
