The above are your words, not mine. And I get it. Ellen and I dropped a TikTok bomb in October 2024, announcing the birth of State of the Reunion. It’s now June 2025, and you haven’t seen a single picture of our precious baby. You’re curious and confused. Some of you might be wondering if the whole thing was just a thirsty ploy to make you commit.
It wasn’t.
Unlike human babies, the gestation periods of book babies vary. I typically spend one to two months plotting and outlining a new novel before I begin writing. Each outline averages about thirty-five pages. State of the Reunion? Notsomuch. She grew inside my mental womb—leeching my nutrients and disrupting my sleep—for two and a half years!
Yes, years.
You have been waiting patiently for this revival. You deserve my best, and I am determined to give it to you. I bit my nails bloody, ate my feelings, self-loathed, scrutinized, analyzed, and criticized every element of this novel until it felt perfect. And it finally does. (No thanks to Kristen Gregory. Every other character’s story flowed. But not hers. I reimagined and rewrote her three times.)
Ellen and I now have a beautiful, 95-page State of the Reunion outline. It’s packed with every secret, plot twist, conflict, and outfit we’ve dreamed up for the twenty-seven-year-old Pretty Committee. The process is similar to building a house: first, I lay the foundation and build a solid structure (done!). Then I fill it with amenities and design it for entertaining (done!). Now I’m going to decorate it with dialogue, description, humor, and emotion. This should take about four months.
But you, my loyal GLU, have waited long enough. To show my appreciation for your patience, I’m going to leak like Wiki and share my outline for Chapter One.
Oh, you want more, do you? Fine. I’ll start with our highlight-deleted story ideas for Kristen—three are real and one is fake. Can you spot the plot imposter? Post your pick in the group chat, and I’ll reveal the answer on Tuesday.
Ready? Let’s play Three Truths and a Faux!
