Hey GLUs, welcome back to The Clique Book Club! This week, we’re at the halfway point in DIAL L FOR LOSER. Let’s catch up.
In a BIZARRE twist of fate, the parents have agreed to let the girls go to Hollywood, knowing that it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. Well…some of them. Kristen’s mom is holding her hostage in Westchester, and the director Rupert doesn’t want to audition Dylan because he thinks she’s responsible for Hadley quitting the movie and doesn’t want her “bad energy” on set.
Kristen and Dylan are back home devastated, and having SERIOUS FOMO as Massie, Alicia and Claire are on a PJ headed to the Baccarat Hotel in Beverly Hills. The entire Hollywood experience is a dream. Private plane, massive hotel suites decked out with all the snacks and treats a teenage girl could dream of.
The girls finally head to the studio, and are gearing up for their auditions with teen heart throb Conner Foley, and tension is in the air…. in more ways than one.
Let’s discuss.
Kristen and Dylan are totally left out of this movie star fantasy. Will The Pretty Committee ever go back to what it was? Or will the glitz and glamour of Hollywood change the dynamic of the clique forever?
Cam explicitly told Claire to “not fall in love with any movie stars” while she’s in LA. But is Claire strong enough to resist the charms of Conner Foley?
Massie, Claire and Alicia are about to go head to head for this role. Will the competition break them? Will they be able to be supportive of whoever wins the part, or will their egos get in the way?
LFG (Let’s F-ing Gossip)!

1. I think if Massie or even Alicia got the part, they would definitely ride that fame train all the way back to Westchester. But with Claire landing the role, Massie will do everything to make sure the status quo is set back in place when they get home.
2. In Love Island terms, no one can truly turn Claire’s head from Cam. At the same time, the Hollywood glitz and glam and trying to fit in might lead her to making different decisions than she would have before…
3. These girls (minus Claire) have not a clue how to be genuinely supportive of their friend’s accomplishments. And with Claire taking the win, they can’t even try to fake being happy for her. One of Massie’s most worn accessories is her ego!
