Hey, GLU’s! Welcome back to Book Club! This week, we’re diving into REVENGE OF THE WANNABES, where alphas are betas, betas are alphas, and LBRs are GLUs. If exploding head emojis existed in the early aughts, they would have been popping off all over this cover.
Let’s catch up:
Massie, now friends with Kuh-laire, is plotting revenge against Alicia for cheating at the Fashion Show. Alicia, a neo-alpha, has formed a new clique and made Olivia her beta.
Question: Which dramatic duo do you think has captured the attention of Teen People?
Hint: It’s not the one with Kuh-laire in it, that’s for sure.
The humiliating injustice of it all launches Massie into a full-blown revenge spiral, reminding us that the only thing harder than getting in is staying in.
What do you think Massie is the most upset about?
The fashion show cheating?
The ah-ttention from Teen People?
Alicia forming a Clique of her own? And giving herself alpha status?
All of the above, this is all so PMS painful.
Why does Alicia think it’s necessary to form her own clique? Do you think she really wants to be an alpha, or is she trying to prove a point?
How do you think the rest of the PC feels? Conflicted? Liberated? Inspired?
LFG (Let’s F-ing Gossip)!
xoxo Lisi & Ellen
I loved all of Alicia’s alpha eras, I feel like she knows deep down she has the potential to lead and when the moments present themselves, she steps up to the plate. Massie has such an iron grip on the PC that she doesn’t even let Alicia try walking in her shoes for even a moment, so Alicia has to step out of the friend group to see what that feels like. I also think Massie gets so threatened by this because it makes Massie’s position a little less-special: really anyone can be an alpha, it’s not a title only reserved for one girl per grade.
Yesss one of my favorites!! The
