I loved all of Alicia’s alpha eras, I feel like she knows deep down she has the potential to lead and when the moments present themselves, she steps up to the plate. Massie has such an iron grip on the PC that she doesn’t even let Alicia try walking in her shoes for even a moment, so Alicia has to step out of the friend group to see what that feels like. I also think Massie gets so threatened by this because it makes Massie’s position a little less-special: really anyone can be an alpha, it’s not a title only reserved for one girl per grade.
Agreed. Massey feels threatened because if her position loses its speciality. She feels like that says something about her. Although I love the fact that Alicia has enough gumption to, if the moment presents itself for her to lead, she's going to take it.
1) I think Massie is most irked by Alicia forming her own clique, because how dare she question the natural order of the alphas? Of course, this is also compounded by how jealous Massie is of Alicia getting what she herself rightfully deserved - winning the contest and all the ah-ttention coming from it. As we continue to see time and time again, Massie is only happy if SHE wins, not her friends.
2) Alicia wants to prove that she can do it. She knows that she has alpha qualities, but doesn't feel like these qualities are often appreciated by Massie. I think it's also important to note that she started considering having her own clique at dance class. When she began to understand how others in her class saw her in that environment - how they looked up to her, wanting to copy her every move, she saw her own potential in a place outside of OCD, where Massie always ruled. This gave her the confidence to pursue her own clique.
3) Kristen & Dylan often get into the middle of these situations, where they don't want to upset Massie but they also don't want to lose Leesh as a friend. However, they are united with Massie on the front of Alicia cheating and definitely feel that anger and disappointment. They are willing to humiliate Alicia as well, and hurt her back.
I’ve always been interested in the character of Olivia because at first glance she’s a shoe in for the PC, bubbly, beautiful and beloved by boys(excuse my alliteration). However, you can see where she struggles to fill in the role of top beta for Alicia whereas Alicia was much better support for Massie. I think that Massie dislikes the attention being away from her but also feels betrayed and unappreciated by Alicia starting her own group. It echoes her own self-doubts that was she does isn’t special/enough
